Aakash Chopra analysed India’s weakness in Asia Cup 2025 on his YouTube channel.

Reputed commentator Aakash Chopra feels that it will be an injustice for the players who will not be part of India’s playing XI during the Asia Cup 2025. Moreover, Chopra also feels that it will be one of the weaknesses for the team during the tournament.

Asia Cup 2025 will begin on September 9 in the UAE. India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will clash with the UAE in their opening gathe me on September 10 in Dubai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have named a strong squad for the tournament with Shubman Gill returning to the side as the vice-captain for the team.

With Gill expected to take up the opening slot, Sanju Samson will have to find a new batting position in the tournament. Similarly, India might find it challenging to finalise their playing XI during the tournament, as every player deserves to play for the team.

In my opinion, you will do an injustice to whoever you make sit out: Aakash Chopra

While sharing an analysis on the Indian Cricket Team for the Asia Cup 2025 on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that the team’s weakness will be deciding which players to bench during the tournament. He shared an example for Samson for the same.

“Is there any weakness? In my opinion, you will do an injustice to whoever you make sit out. That’s the weakness. It doesn’t sound very right, but it is what it is. If you make Sanju Samson sit out, you feel you are doing wrong, as you were making him open consistently and he was doing well. He scored three hundreds in 12 matches,” he said.

Chopra also pointed out how not fitting players like Rinku Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, or Axar Patel in the playing XI will be an injustice to these players.

“If you make Rinku Singh sit out, you will again feel you are doing wrong. If you are unable to fit in Kuldeep Yadav, it will be a problem. If you are unable to bat Axar Patel up the order, it will seem like you are doing an injustice. So, it’s a tight rope to walk. Whatever you do, you can be criticized. That is not a weakness, but this is what it is,” he added.

Chopra also feels that India’s might should be visible in their performance and they should outplay other teams.

“This team has started batting with a different template consistently. This is the team that plays attacking cricket. If you are a cut above the rest, then it must reflect in your performances. So strategy for India, in my opinion, should be to just go for absolute glory,” he further said.

Meanwhile, India are part of Group A in the Asia Cup 2025 with Oman, Pakistan, and UAE in their pool. Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong are part of Group B. After their opening game on September 10, the Men in Blue will clash with Pakistan on September 14 and Oman on September 19.
