Dewald Brevis played an innings of 125* against Australia.
Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has lavished rich praise on young Proteas batter Dewald Brevis for his heroics with the bat in the second T20I against the Australian cricket Team. He said that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) picking him was a masterstroke.
South African batter Dewald Brevis set the stage on fire with the bat in the ongoing match against the Australian Cricket Team. The game between the two teams is taking place at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.
Dewald Brevis walked out to bat at four and at a time when South Africa were left tottering at 57/3. The young batter looked in a furious mood right from the start as he attacked Australia’s bowlers all over the park, bailing his team out of trouble with his sensational stroke play.
Dewald Brevis added a 126-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs (31) and made the Australia bowlers look clueless. Brevis, who, since the last few months, has been in the red-hot form, continued his good show and made sure he converted his start into a big knock.
At one stage, Brevis was batting at 15 off 13 balls and finished with a 125-run knock, which in itself reveals the kind of impact that he made. His innings was laced with 12 boundaries and eight sixes as he batted with a strike rate of 223.21.
The boy can play – AB de Villiers lauds Dewald Brevis

With Brevis slamming a brilliant ton, AB de Villiers was in awe of his innings. He pointed out that the youngsters getting a deal in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with CSK was a master stroke. Taking to his Twitter account, he said:
“There was such a golden opportunity for IPL teams to pick up Dewald Brevis at the auction! Missed out badly. CSK either got very lucky, or maybe the biggest master stroke ever. The boy can play Brevis Dewald.”
“Mind boggling that he wasn’t picked up at all! To think that he came in as an injury sub,” de Villiers further added.
Notably, Brevis went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, and after that, he was brought by CSK midway. After the pacer Gurjapneet Singh was ruled out, the management added him to the team. He played some vital knocks for the team and scored 225 runs across six innings in the tournament.
