Abhishek Sharma smashed 100 runs off 47 balls in the second T20I match against Zimbabwe on July 7.

Indian star all-rounder Abhishek Sharma had a memorable day with the bat against Zimbabwe as he smashed his maiden T20I century. The opener unleashed his beast mode during the second match of the ongoing five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 7.

On July 6, Abhishek made his T20I debut in the first match of the series. The left-handed batter had a horrible outing as he registered a duck in his maiden T20I game.

In less than 24 hours, Abhishek answered his critics, who judged him after the first T20I match. In the second match of the ongoing series Vs. Zimbabwe, the star all-rounder hammered his maiden T20I ton and concluded his innings at 100 off just 47 deliveries, which included seven boundaries and eight sixes.

The 23-year-old all-rounder also achieved an unique feat of taking least number of innings by an Indian batter to hit a hundred in T20Is. Abhishek broke the record of right-handed batter Deepak Hooda, who smashed a T20I hundred in his third T20I innings, while Abhishek achieved it in his second today. Abhishek also became the fourth youngest Indian batter to smash a T20I century.

The incident happened during 14th over of the first innings when Abhishek was batting at 82 off 43 deliveries. On the third delivery of the 14th over, Abhishek hammered Masakadza over mid-wicket for a huge six. On the next ball, the Indian opener advanced down the wicket, smoked a six-over deep mid-wicket, and moved to 94 runs.

On the fifth delivery of the over, Zimbabwe’s Masakadza bowled a low full toss towards the leg side, and the left-handed batter Abhishek flicked it over a fine leg for a hat-trick of sixes, also reaching his maiden T20I hundred in just second match of his T20I career. On the very next delivery, unfortunately, Abhishek was caught by Dion Myers at backward point.
