Indian Cricket Team opener Abhishek Sharma came up with a fabulous batting show during the Super Four clash against the Sri Lanka Cricket Team in Asia Cup 2025 on Friday, September 26. The left-hander slammed his third consecutive half-century of the tournament, providing a brutal start with the bat yet again.
After India were asked to bat, Abhishek continued his aggressive in the match, hitting eight boundaries and two sixes. While Shubman Gill got out cheaply for four runs, Abhishek went on to score 61 runs off 31 balls, batting with a mammoth strike rate of over 196.
With his knock against Sri Lanka, the Indian opener has broken a massive record in the Asia Cup history. He has scripted the record for most runs in a single edition of T20I Asia Cup tournament. With 309 runs so far in the ongoing tournament, he has broken Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan’s previous record of 281 runs in Asia Cup 2022.

Meanwhile, Abhishek is also the leading run-scorer of Asia Cup 2025, with 309 runs in six games at an average of 51.50 and a strike rate of 204.64. With the help of his marvellous knock, the Men in Blue piled up a mammoth total of 202/5 against Sri Lanka.
After he got out, Tilak Varma (49*) and Sanju Samson (39) played decent knocks before Axar Patel (21*) finished innings on a high as India became the first team to cross the 200-run mark in the tournament, ending with 202.
Notably, the match won’t have much impact in the ongoing tournament as India have already booked a spot in the final and Sri Lanka are already eliminated from the race to the final. India will lock horns with Pakistan in the summit clash on Sunday, September 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
