Abhishek Sharma got injured while fielding in the first ZIM vs IND T20I.
The three-match T20I series between the Indian Cricket Team and the Zimbabwe Cricket Team got underway on Thursday, July 23. The series opener between the teams is underway at Harare Sports Club.
India captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field first in the encounter. The game will be extremely important for him as things haven’t gone in his favour ever since he took the captaincy of the Indian T20I team.
India have been winless in their last seven games, and the first ZIM vs IND provides a great opportunity for them to end this streak. The Men in Blue went in with the combination of three seamers and one spinner.
They had a great start to the match as Mayank Yadav was breathing fire with the new ball. However, India also got jolted with a blow as star batter Abhishek Sharma got injured just at the start of the innings.

Abhishek Sharma got injured in the third over of the innings. On the second ball of the over, Mayank Yadav bowled a short and wide delivery, to which Myers slapped it with some power to cover-point where Abhishek was stationed
The ball went straight to him, dipped on him a bit as Abhishek tried to get his hands down but was hit on the wrists. He wasn’t comfortable and walked off the field with the physio as he looked in immense pain.
There is no confirmation about the seriousness of the injury; however, the team management would be hoping that it isn’t a serious one as he will hold key for India in the series.
Sharma was seen bowling as well in the nets, which was an indication that management would be using him as a bowler as well. It remains to be seen if he comes to bat or not in the ongoing first game.
