Abhishek Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match for his fantastic century in the second T20I vs Zimbabwe.

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma video called his family and his mentor Yuvraj Singh after his team defeated Zimbabwe in the second match of the ongoing five-match T20I series by 100 runs at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 7.

Abhishek made his T20I debut on July 6 in the first T20I match against Zimbabwe at the very same ground in Harare. Abhishek had an unforgettable day as he got out on a duck in his debut match. The young Indian all-rounder then made a stunning comeback in the second match and hammered his maiden T20I century.

Abhishek’s fantastic knock of 100 runs in 47 balls with a fiery strike rate of over 200 helped the Men in Blue post a huge total of 234/2 in 20 overs. Abhishek also stitched a 137-run stand for the second wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who remained not out on 77 runs. The duo helped India registered their highest ever T20I total against Zimbabwe.

While defending 235, Indian bowlers showed no mercy as pacers Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan bagged three wickets each. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi took two scalps as the hosts were bundled out just 134 runs, and Men in Blue won the match by 100 runs.

With this victory, the Shubman Gill-led India leveled the five-match T20I series 1-1. Earlier, the Men in Blue suffered a crushing defeat in the first match by 13 runs.

Following his stunning century, which helped India win the game, Abhishek was awarded Player of the Match award. After the match, Abhishek was having a candid conversation with the BCCI, where he called his family, who were over the moon celebrating his hundred and then he called his mentor and former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh.

During the conversation, Abhishek even credited his father Raj Kumar and mentor Yuvraj Singh for making him the cricketer he is today.

“Yuvi paaji (Yuvraj Singh) has made a big contribution. I don’t consider myself as sixer-king or something like that. Special thanks to my dad for allowing me to play lofted shots.” Abhishek said during the post-match presentation.
