Asian Cricket Council launches Women's U19 T20 Asia Cup, inaugural edition to take place in December 2024

ACC president Jay Shah announced the launch of the Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the launch of the Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup with a focus on the growth of women’s junior cricket in the continent.
The development was confirmed during the latest ACC Executive Board Meeting, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tournament will help the Asian sides prepare for the Women’s U19 World Cup.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the ACC is planning to host the inaugural edition of the Women’s U-19 T20 Asia Cup in December this year. Notably, the U-19 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Malaysia in January-February 2025.

The ACC president Jay Shah stated that the introduction of the Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup will provide a much-needed platform for young women cricketers to showcase their skills and talents to the audience.
“Today marks a pivotal moment for cricket in Asia. The introduction of the Women’s U-19 Asia Cup is a monumental achievement, providing a much-needed platform for young women cricketers to develop their skills and showcase their talent,” Shah said.
Shah further added that the main initiative to conduct the Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup is to strengthen the future of women’s cricket in Asia.
“This initiative strengthens the future of women’s cricket in Asia, and we are proud of the lasting impact these decisions will have, not only within our member nations but across the global cricketing community,” Shah added.
Notably, the first Women’s U19 T20 World Cup was held last year in South Africa. The Indian cricket team, led by Shafali Verma, won the competition.
