[Watch] Adam Zampa knocks Bernard Scholtz's off-stump to claim his 100th T20I wicket

Adam Zampa took a four-wicket haul against Namibia as Australia entered the Super 8 round.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa became the first Australian men’s player to pick up 100 T20I wickets when he knocked over Namibia’s Bernard Scholtz’s off-stump during their encounter on Tuesday in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia crushed Namibia by 9 wickets, thumping down the target of 73 runs in only 5.4 overs, to storm into the Super 8 round with their third win of the group stage.

Zampa bagged his second consecutive Man of the Match award in the competition for his figures of 4/12 in four overs. His last wicket, that of Scholtz, was his 100th T20I scalp, becoming the first Aussie men’s player to achieve this feat.

On the last ball of his spell, Zampa tossed up a delivery that pitched well outside the off-stump. It was a googly but Bernard Scholtz clearly didn’t pick it as he went for a drive on the off-side. The ball turned in sharply and significantly to go through the huge pad-bat gap and clatter into the off-stump. There was not much celebration from Zampa even though he recorded his 100th T20I wicket.

Australia had started their tournament with a win over Oman. They boosted their confidence by defeating defending champions England. This victory over Namibia sealed their spot in the next round.

Man of the Match Adam Zampa said, “It sounds fine – we qualify for the Super 8s, that’s a nice feeling. Enjoying bowling, being encouraged to take wickets by the captain. Just trying to do my thing mate. We are happy (to qualify); the first step in trying to take the trophy home, but long way to go.”
