Aditya Birla Group in line to get IPL title sponsorship for next five years

Currently TATA holds the title sponsorship of IPL.
Aditya Birla Group is in line to win the IPL title sponsorship for the next five years cycle in 2024-28. TATA currently holds the title sponsorship rights of Indian Premier League. Aditya Birla Group placed a heavy bid of 2500 Crore INR for the next five years. This will make IPL earn 500 Crore INR for each seasons of Indian Premier League.
TATA sons came forward as Vivo’s replacement, when India had a bitter relations with China. BCCI opted out of the title sponsorship deal with VIVO to respect the sentiments of general public. TATA sons paid 670 Crore INR for the previous two seasons of Indian Premier League. TATA sons joined the IPL sponsorship in 2022.
China companies not allowed to bid for IPL sponsorship!
According to Indian Premier League Sponsorship right rules, TATA sons has the first right of refusal but they will have to match the highest bid to retain IPL title sponsorship rights. Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India issued the tender on 12th December 2023 and 12th January 2024 was deadline to submit the last bid.
BCCI has decided to not consider any bid from Chinese companies. The soreness between India and China continues and BCCI is not willing to associate themselves with firms from China. BCCI has also decided to not consider any companies associated with Fantasy Games, Spoertwear, Cryptocurrency and along with betting and gambling apps.
The 10-team event is likely to begin at the end of March and will be played till the end of May. IPL 2024 will host 74 games, any company winning the bid for title sponsorship rights will get a great benefit in coming year. IPL governing council is likely to extend the number of games in IPL 2025 or in 2026. Likely that IPL will have 84 matches from the next season.
