Rohit Sharma became the second Indian captain to win the ICC T20 World Cup title.

Rohit Sharma and his team finally brought the T20 World Cup trophy home as they reached India on July 4. The team was welcomed by fans, who gathered in large numbers at Marine Drive in Mumbai for the victory parade. It was a jampacked Wankhede Stadium where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) felicitated the Indian team.

Meanwhile, a heartwarming video of Rohit Sharma and his mother is going viral on the internet, where both had shared an adorable moment. It was a historic moment for the Indian team that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They ended the tournament without losing a game and went on to beat South Africa in the final in Barbados. The Indian team were stuck in Barbados for a couple of days due to a cyclone, but they finally reached India on Thursday.

Rohit Sharma’s mother, Poornima, was present at the Wankhede Stadium and was watching thousands of fans chant his son’s name. She was full of pride and couldn’t stop herself from showering love on her son when she met him after a month. A video went viral where Rohit’s mom was seen hugging and kissing her son when Rohit Sharma came to meet her at the president’s box.

Rohit was surrounded by media people and fans, and he was seen asking her mother to stop, “Bas Maa.” Notably, she had a doctor’s appointment scheduled, but he couldn’t miss the chance to witness such big moments in her son’s life and skipped the appointment. In an interview with Indian Express, she said, “I never imagined I would witness this day. Before heading to the World Cup, he visited us and mentioned he wanted to retire from T20Is after this tournament. I told him to try to win. Even though I wasn’t feeling well today and had a doctor’s appointment, I had to be here to see this day.”

Meanwhile, the Indian team met PM Narendra Modi in Delhi before reaching Mumbai. Then they had a victory parade from Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium. It was incredible scenes as fans came out in large numbers. Notably, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from T20 internationals, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was the last for them in the shortest format for India.
