Afghanistan will play a tri-series against Pakistan and UAE ahead of Asia Cup 2025.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has named a 22-member preliminary squad for the forthcoming Tri-Series and Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The selected players will undergo a two-week preparation and training camp in the UAE ahead of the T20I Tri-series.

Afghanistan are scheduled to play a T20I Tri-Series against Pakistan and UAE ahead of Asia Cup 2025. The series will commence on August 29 and conclude on September 7. The entire Tri-series will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

Asia Cup 2025 will commence on September 9 and witness a battle between eight teams. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Hong Kong, and Oman will clash during the Asia Cup 2025. The venues for the tournament are Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Rashid Khan will lead Afghanistan during both campaigns. Senior members like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Azmatullah Omarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Mohammad Nabi are part of the preliminary squad.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan are part of Group B in the Asia Cup 2025. They will clash with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong during the group stage. Afghanistan will play the tournament opener against Hong Kong on September 9 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Asia Cup 2025 final will be played on September 28 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India are the defending champions of the tournament as they won the last edition in 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Unlike the previous edition, Asia Cup 2025 will be played in T20I format.
