Afghanistan will meet New Zealand for the first time in test cricket in September in Greater Noida, India. The one-off test will be played from September 9 at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground.

The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) named a full-fledged 15-member squad for the Afghanistan test. Veteran speedster Tim Southee will continue to lead the test side.

Former skipper Kane Williamson will head the batting department along with Tom Latham, Devon Conway, and Rachin Ravindra. Veteran spinner Ajaz Patel and all-rounder Mitchell Santer will form the spin bowling attack for New Zealand. Captain Tim Southee, Ben Sears, and Matt Henry are the three main fast bowlers for the Afghanistan test match.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) named a 16-man line-up for their maiden test against New Zealand. Hasmatuallah Shahidi will lead Afghanistan.

Afghanistan will miss the services of veteran leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who is ruled out due to injury issues. The cricket board has also excluded Gulbadin Naib from the 16-man squad.

The ACB have named three uncapped players: opening batter Riaz Hassan, all-rounder Shams Ur Rahman, and speedster Khalil Ahmed. Speedster Naveed Zadran is ruled out with a side strain.

The one-off test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand will not be part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.
