Aiden Markram beats Kagiso Rabada and Pathum Nissanka to win ICC Player of the Month award for June 2025

Aiden Markram scored a century in the ICC WTC 2023-25 final.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the Player of the Month award winners for June 2025. South African batter Aiden Markram won the Men’s PoTM award for his brilliant show in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final against Australia.

Aiden Markram scored a match-winning century in the encounter and helped South Africa chase down a 282-run target. The right-handed batsman scored 136 runs, playing an anchor role in the chase. He also clinched two crucial wickets in the match. Notably, South Africa won the ICC WTC title for the first time.

Aiden Makaram, Kagiso Rabada, and Pathaum Nissanka were the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month award for June 2025. Rabada was picked for his brilliant performance in the ICC WTC 2023-25 final, where he clinched a total of nine wickets. Nissanka helped Sri Lanka to win the second test series against Bangladesh last month.

South Africa defeated Australia by five wickets in ICC WTC 2023-25 final

Talking about the match, South Africa won the toss and opted to field first. Australia were bowled out for 212 runs in the first innings. Steve Smith (66) and Beau Webster (72) slammed half-centuries. Kasiso Rabada scalped a marvellous five-wicket haul.

However, Proteas failed to come up with a good batting show in the first innings. David Bedingham scored 45 runs as South Africa were bundled out for 138 runs. Australia earned a lead of 74 runs after the first innings.

In the second innings, South Africa bundled out Australia for 207 runs, with a four-wicket haul by Kagiso Rabada. Mitchell Starc (58) scored a crucial half-century for Australia. South Africa had a 282-run target for victory.

Markram, who got out for a duck in the first innings, made a fabulous comeback with his century in the second innings. Skipper Temba Bavuma also added crucial 66 runs. South Africa chased down the target by five wickets to script history. Markram won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant batting show.
