The meeting between BCCI and Ajit Agarkar, Gautam Gambhir is set to take place either ahead of the second ODI in Raipur or the third ODI in Visakhapatnam.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly convened a meeting involving India head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and several other senior officials before Wednesday’s second ODI against South Africa to urgently discuss and resolve a few significant issues that have been deemed important by the board.
There have been rumors that the meeting will take place in Raipur, but it might potentially be postponed to Vizag, the location of the series’ third and final ODI, a few days later.
As per a Sportstar report, the meeting is expected to include BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, and head coach Gautam Gambhir, along with national selection committee head Ajit Agarkar, among the key attendees.
The report did not clarify whether newly elected BCCI president Mithun Manhas would be present. Since the meeting is scheduled on match day, the chances of senior players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and others being summoned seem extremely slim.
The move comes amid the discussion over the future of Team India veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both of whom have flown back into form with excellent performances in the last few games.
BCCI official states meeting to address “instances of confusing tactics” by team management on and off the field

A senior BCCI official told the publication that the meeting was convened to promote greater selection consistency within the team while also considering long-term developmental goals alongside the broader evaluation of the squad’s overall performance and stability.
The meeting aims to review the shortcomings exposed on the Indian side during the recent home test series loss to South Africa. With Gambhir and Agarkar attending, the board hopes to gain clearer insight into various management decisions and outline the team’s strategic direction for upcoming assignments ahead.
“During the home test season, there have been instances of confusing tactics on and off the field. We want clarity and forward planning, especially with the next test series eight months away. India will be the favorites to defend the T20 World Cup next year and strong contenders for the ODI World Cup after that, so we want these issues resolved quickly,” the BCCI official was quoted by the publication.
The future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will also be discussed during the meeting. The BCCI feels that there should be adequate planning and communication with the senior combination over their role in the side, even if the experienced duo have been outstanding in the solitary format they play.
