The Indian team defeated England to win the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2026 on Friday, February 6. With the help of a 175-run innings from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, India accumulated a total of 411 runs after 50 overs. However, the total proved mammoth for the English team, as they lost the final by 100 runs.

Individual awards-

Most Runs: Ben Mayes

English batter Ben Mayes accumulated the most runs, 444, in the ICC U19 World Cup 2026. His best performance came against Scotland in the group stage, where the right-handed batter scored 191 runs.

With an average of 74, Mayes racked up two fifties and one century. Meanwhile, Mayes smashed 41 boundaries and 15 maximums, showing his batting prowess on the global stage.

Most wickets: Manny Lumsden

England’s Manny Lumsden took 16 wickets in the tournament, the most by any player. However, he conceded 81 runs in eight overs in the final against India, dismissing only Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

The right-arm medium-fast bowler maintained an economy of 4.59 throughout the campaign, and his best figures, 5/17, came against New Zealand on January 30.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the sixth Indian to win the Player of the Tournament award at the ICC Under-19 World Cup. Sooryavanshi finished second on the list of the highest run-getters, only five runs behind Ben Mayes, with a total of 439.

However, he hit 30 sixes in the youth tournament, the most by any player in the tournament. He also shattered Dewald Brevis’ record with the most sixes in an edition. Brevis hit 22 maximums in the 2022 edition. He maintained an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169 throughout the tournament.

Player of the Match in Final: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

With his blistering 175-run knock off 80 deliveries, India’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named the player of the match in the final.

Sooryavanshi now holds the record for the highest runs scored by an Indian player in a match in the ICC U19 World Cup. Earlier, the record was held by Raj Bawa, who scored 162 against Uganda in 2022.
