All-rounder Glenn Maxwell represents Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL.
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had a great two-to-three-month tour of India and ended up playing a few magnificent knocks as well as winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. It was a fitting end to the mega event as Glenn Maxwell played the winning shot for Australia, and before departing for his home, Maxwell played a match-winning knock at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Australian all-rounder has reaped maximum benefits from his IPL experience.
Glenn Maxwell will be coming back after his home summer down under to take part in Indian Premier League in March next year. Maxwell represents Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the league and is doing fabulous work in RCB’s middle-order. Aiming at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA, Maxwell has made a big statement on IPL. RCB retained Australian all-rounder in their squad for a splendid show in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
‘Will play IPL untill I can’t walk’
Australia’s X-factor believes that IPL will be an ideal platform for the T20 World Cup preparation. He also said that he will continue playing in the league until he can’t walk. Glenn Maxwell said in a chat with ESPNCricinfo, “The IPL will probably be the last tournament I ever play, as I will play the IPL until I can’t walk anymore.” Maxwell has represented Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab, and Bangalore in IPL and led Punjab to the final once as skipper.
Glenn Maxwell also credited IPL for shaping his career. Maxwell added, “I was talking about how good the IPL has been to me throughout my career, the people I’ve met, the coaches I have played under, the international players that you get to rub shoulders with—and how beneficial to my whole career that tournament has been.” IPL 2024 will take place just before the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled in West Indies and USA.
Australian all-rounder also believes that this provides a platform for players to share the dressing room with legends. Maxwell said, “You’ve been rubbing shoulders with AB [de Villiers] and Virat [Kohli] for two months, talking to them while watching other games. It’s just the greatest learning experience that any player could ask for.” Glenn Maxwell played ‘The Best’ ODI innings against Afghanistan at Wankhede Stadium in the World Cup 2023 league round.
