Ambati Rayudu was part of St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and has decided to leave CPL 2023.

The 11th edition of Caribbean Premier League is currently underway in West Indies. The first half of the tournament is almost done, and the competition will move to its second half. St. Lucia Kings are at the top of the table with six points, while Guyana Amazon Warriors are second with five points. It is a tough competition among all teams.

The second half of the group stage is expected to be more exciting as all teams will be fighting for a place in the playoff stage. However, amid the group stage, former Indian star Ambati Rayudu has withdrawn from the tournament. Rayudu is currently playing for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and has decided to leave the tournament due to some personal reasons.

Ambati Rayudu leaves CPL 2023 citing personal reasons

Ambati Rayudu played just three innings for St. Kitts in the ongoing season. In three innings, he managed 47 runs at an average of 15.66 and a strike rate of 117.50. Rayudu registered scores of 0, 32, and 15 in CPL 2023. He was the marquee player for St. Kitts franchise. Rayudu made history by becoming only the second player to feature in CPL.

Pravin Tambe was the first Indian to play in Caribbean Premier League. Notably, Ambati Rayudu retired from international cricket just after Chennai Super Kings won their fifth IPL title earlier this year, beating Gujarat Titans in the finals in Ahmedabad. Rayudu played a key role in CSK’s triumph.

Apart from Rayudu, Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarbani has also left the competition for personal reasons. Rayudu will be replaced by the English opener Will Jacks for St. Kitts, while Benny Howell will replace Muzarbani. Notably, the performance of the franchise hasn’t been good, as they are the only team that has yet to win a single game in the tournament and are sitting at the bottom of the table.
