Shree Charani awarded Rs 2.5 Crs, housing plot and job by Andhra Government after India win ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025

Shree Charani starred with 14 wickets in nine games in India’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup win.
India Women’s left-arm spinner Shree Charani received a huge prize from the Andhra Pradesh government, as she was part of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 win.
India defeated South Africa in the final of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in Navi Mumbai on November 2. India batted first in the final and, thanks to 87 by Shafali Verma and 58 by Deepti Sharma, posted 298/7 in 50 overs. In response, Deepti Sharma starred with the ball, taking 5/39, and Shafali took two wickets as well, while Laura Wolvaardt scored 101 runs. But South Africa was always behind in the chase as Laura couldn’t find any support from the other end.
Shree Charani had a brilliant outing in the tournament, taking 14 wickets at an economy of 4.96 in nine games, including the best bowling figures of 3/41.

Andhra government felicitates Shree Charani; she gets a government job, housing land, and Rs 2.50 crores
Shree Charani, who was instrumental in India’s first ever ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup victory in 2025, has received a special award from the Andhra Pradesh government. The state would give her a 1,000-square-yard house site in her hometown of Kadapa, a Group-I government position, and a monetary prize of Rs 2.5 crores.
Following a meeting with Charani upon her return from Delhi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made the announcement. He praised her for her World Cup efforts and said Andhra Pradesh was proud of her accomplishment. At a brief ceremony, Charani was also congratulated and talked about her involvement in India’s first-ever Women’s Cricket World Cup victory.
“Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced a major reward for Women’s World Cup winner, Team India (women’s) member, and Telugu girl Shree Charani. The CM decided to offer a cash prize of Rs 2.5 crore and a 1,000 sq ft plot to build a house in Kadapa,” said an official release.
Speaking at a press conference at the Mangalagiri stadium, Charani stated that her ascent to the national team was made possible by the Andhra Cricket Association’s (ACA) training and support.
“Though the hard work and experience of former players went unnoticed, we are reaping the fruits of their efforts, as we are more visible today because of them,” said Charani.
