Ahead of his retirement from international cricket, West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has revealed the best moment of his career for West Indies. Russell said that his match-winning knock against India in the semi-final of ICC T20 World Cup 2016 was the best moment of his career.
West Indies defeated India by seven wickets in the semi-final of ICC T20 World Cup 2016 by successfully chasing down a 193-run target. During the encounter, Russell played a quickfire knock of unbeaten 43 runs off 20 balls.
He and Lendl Simmons (82* off 51) helped the West Indies win the encounter. Later, West Indies defeated England in the final of the tournament to win the title. They chased down a 156-run target by four wickets. It was West Indies’ second T20 World Cup title in men’s cricket.
Andre Russell recalls the best moment of his career

During an interview with the Cricket West Indies (CWI), Russell termed his innings in T20 World Cup 2016 semi-final against India as his best moment in international cricket.
“Definitely [my best moment was] the 2016 World Cup, that semi-final game against India where I brought the team home, me and Lendl Simmons, and obviously the start that we got from the other batters,” Russell said.
“Chasing 190-plus in that semi-final in India, with the crowd supporting India only, that was already a bit of pressure, but the wicket was a very good wicket, so the confidence that we had in the changing room and the batters that were left to come, it gave me the freedom and the confidence to go out and play the role that I did,” he added.
Meanwhile, Russell will retire from international cricket after the first two T20Is against Australia. The first two games will be played on July 20 and 22 at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. The series will witness five games. Matthew Forde will replace Russell in the West Indies squad for last three matches.
