Virat Kohli played a crucial knock of 42 runs before getting dismissed by Noor Ahmad

In match No. 52 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT), the hosts came out as victors as they thrashed the hosts by four wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on May 4.

However during the match, Bengaluru opener Virat Kohli’s dismissal left many fans disappointed, along with the cricketer’s wife Anushka Sharma, who was sitting in the stands. She looked shell-shocked after GT leg-spinner Noor Ahamad dismissed Kohli at an important stage of the match.

After being asked to bat first, Gujarat were restricted to just 147 runs after the hosts bowled brilliantly throughout the innings. Shahrukh Khan (37) and David Miller (30) rescued visitors with a 61-run stand to guide them to a respectable total.

While chasing 148, Bengaluru openers Kohli and Faf du Plessis had an impressive opening partnership of 35-ball 92. However, hosts saw a huge collapse as they lost five batters, skipper du Plessis (64) Will Jacks (1), Rajat Patidar (2), Glenn Maxwell (4), and Cameron Green (1), as they crumbled to 111/5 inside the first 10 overs.

With visitors looking to build pressure and aiming to take Virat Kohli’s wicket, Shubman Gill brought his ace leg-spinner Noor Ahmad into the attack to bowl the 11th over of the second innings.

In the third ball of the over, Kohli hammered a pull shot towards the deep mid-wicket boundary as the ball raced away for a four. In the very next delivery, Noor took his revenge as he dismissed the former RCB skipper with a sharp delivery.

The leg-spinner bowled a full-length delivery just outside off. Kohli leaned in towards the ball and tried to play with an opened bat towards the cover. However, the ball spun away and took a faint outside edge, and wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha took the catch easily.

Soon after Kohli’s dismissal, camera’s panned towards Anushka, who was sitting in the stands. She looked shell-shocked as Kohli departed after smashing 42 runs, with Bengaluru scoring just 117 runs at that stage while chasing. However, Kohli’s departure didn’t hurt hosts that match as wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik (21*) helped them to win by four wickets.
