Karnataka will be captained by Anvay Dravid in Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2025-26.
Anvay Dravid, the younger son of former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid, has been appointed captain of Karnataka’s U-19 team for the upcoming Vinoo Mankad Trophy, set to begin in Dehradun on October 9.The prestigious tournament, which features the country’s top young cricketers, marks another milestone in Anvay’s steady rise through the junior ranks.
The 18-year-old batter was Karnataka’s leading run-scorer in the previous edition and continues to establish himself as one of the state’s brightest prospects.
Karun Nair returns to the Karnataka squad; Manish Pandey omitted
In senior cricket, Karun Nair — the out-of-favour India batter — is set to return to Karnataka after a two-season stint with Vidarbha, where he played a key role in their Ranji Trophy triumph last year.
He has been named in Karnataka’s squad for their Ranji Trophy opener against Saurashtra in Rajkot, starting October 15. The move gives Karun another opportunity to push for a national comeback after being left out of India’s test squad for the ongoing home series against the West Indies.
Mayank Agarwal will continue to lead Karnataka’s senior team, while veteran Manish Pandey’s omission suggests that his First-Class (FC) career may have ended.
Karnataka Ranji Trophy squad: Mayank Agarwal (captain), Karun Nair, R Smaran, KL Shrijith (wk), Shreyas Gopal, Vyshak Vijayakumar, Vidwath Kaverappa, Abhilash Shetty, M Venkatesh, Nikin Jose, Abhinav Manohar, Kruthik Krishna (wk), KV Aneesh, Mohsin Khan, Shikhar Shetty.
