ENG vs IND: [Watch] Jofra Archer uproots stumps to send back injured Rishabh Pant packing in 1st innings of the Manchester test

Rishabh Pant slammed his 18th test fifty in first innings of the ongoing Manchester test.

Despite suffering a lot of pain, Rishabh Pant came out to bat in the morning session on day 2 in the ongoing Manchester test. He spent some time on the crease while limping around and reached his 18th test fifty with an unbelievable shot for a boundary off Ben Stokes.

But his innings was cut short by a peach of a delivery by Jofra Archer. Pant had an identical dismissal like he had in second innings of the Lord’s test, and Archer bamboozled the Indian test vice-captain, and his off stump went for a cartwheel.

Pant, who was hit on his right toe on day 1, earned a big applause from the crowd as he came out to bat on Day 2. He had struggles while facing the ball and running between the wickets, but he scored a memorable fifty.

India’s innings ended at 358 in 114.1 overs with Jasprit Bumrah nicking one ball down the leg off Archer. Archer finished with 3/73 and had dismissed Pant with an unplayable ball. It was the third ball of the 113th over. The ball came in and kept low, hitting the off-stump.

Earlier, Archer dismissed Ravindra Jadeja (20 off 40) to give England their first breakthrough of the day. England’s captain Ben Stokes was pick of the bowlers for the hosts. He ended 8-year-long wait for a test fifer and finished with figures of 5/72 in the first innings.

For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) and Sai Sudharsan (61) scored half-centuries on day one. Pant scored 54 off 75 balls, with three fours and two sixes during his innings. India are in a do-or-die position after trailing the series 1-2. A defeat here means a third consecutive test series loss for them.

India did well with the bat in testing conditions. Now everything depends on the Indian bowlers. Notably, Anshul Kamboj is making his debut. Hence, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be the ones to lead the Indian bowling attack.
