Are India planning to turn Naman Dhir into Will Jacks of England?

Naman Dhir has taken five wickets in three matches in the T20I series against the West Indies.

The Indian Cricket Team is currently playing against the West Indies in a five-match T20I series. The series, which started on October 6, is currently 2-1 in India’s favour, and they need just one more win to seal the series victory. However, so far, the visitors have given them tough competition, and the form of their batters has been a major concern for the Indian bowlers.

India won the first match by eight wickets while chasing a target of 172 runs. However, in the second match, even after scoring 249 runs in the first innings, they failed to defend the total, and the West Indies recorded their highest successful run chase ever. The next match was once again high-scoring, as the Indian team scored 223 runs in the first innings and won the match by 14 runs.

In all three matches, one player has impressed everyone with his all-round skills. Naman Dhir, who was seen as a part-time bowler, has showcased his bowling abilities and provided important breakthroughs for the team.

In the three matches played so far, Naman Dhir has taken five wickets, the most by an Indian bowler in this bilateral series. He has not had many opportunities to bat in the series, but over the years, he has also demonstrated his power-hitting abilities down the order in T20 cricket.

He could be utilised in the same way as Will Jacks is for the England. Jacks, who was once regarded as a part-time bowler, has become one of England’s most important off-spinners in white-ball cricket.

In the recent T20 World Cup, which concluded in March 2026, Jacks scored 226 runs while batting down the order at a strike rate of 176. He also took nine wickets and won four Player of the Match awards, equalling the record for the most such awards in a single T20 World Cup.

Naman Dhir is also emerging as a player who can fulfil the role of a finisher down the order while contributing with the ball to take crucial wickets. In the long run, the Indian team management could use him in crucial situations to break partnerships and turn the tide of a match.

How many wickets has Naman Dhir taken so far in the series against the West Indies?

Naman Dhir has taken 5 wickets in the first three matches of the India vs West Indies T20I series.
