Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets in the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The encounter took place on Sunday afternoon (May 10) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After being asked to bat first, LSG piled up a respectable total of 203/8 in the first innings. Opener Josh Inglis (85) scored a half-century, while other batters lost their wickets cheaply. Shahbaz Ahmed added an unbeaten 43 runs in the end to help LSG cross the 200-run mark.
However, it was not enough for victory against the CSK’s strong batting line-up. Batting at number three, Urvil Patel hammered a quickfire half-century (65 off 23), registering the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history.
LSG bowlers made a little comeback towards the end; however, Shivam Dube hit two sixes in the final over to drive CSK to a stunning victory by five wickets.
