Arun Dhumal gives big statement on Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma's future in 2027 Cricket World Cup

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma play only ODIs for India.
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal addressed any retirement rumors and the future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the 2027 ODI World Cup in an open discussion with cricket journalist Vimal Kumar.
On Vimalwa’s YouTube channel, the former BCCI treasurer expressed his enthusiastic opinions about the two Indian celebrities.
When Vimal questioned Dhumal about his thoughts on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli‘s form and health in the run-up to the 2027 World Cup, Dhumal refrained from making harsh remarks regarding the massive ICC tournament that will take place in two years.
“These rumours and talks are not spread by the BCCI. It was spread by the media and the people. They themselves decided to retire from T20I and Test cricket and are now available for ODIs. The concrete mission and motivation Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have, I think, there should be no doubts or questions,” Dhumal told Vimal on his YouTube channel.
Virat and Rohit retired from T20Is when India won the T20 World Cup 2024. Then, in May of this year, before the England tour, Rohit and Kohli announced their test retirement as well, following poor performances at home and in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“They are living legends”- Arun Dhumal praises Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s fitness
Arun Dhumal continued by praising their level of fitness and explaining why the BCCI cannot even contemplate pressuring players to retire early. Dhumal referred to them as “living legends” since Rohit appears more focused than ever, and Kohli continues to exhibit peak athleticism.
“Till the time they are fit to play and are performing on the ground, nobody can think of excluding them from playing. Sochna bhi nahi chahiye. They are living legends. The level of fitness Virat Kohli is showing, I think he should do what Sachin Tendulkar did in the 2011 World Cup. The same goes for Rohit Sharma, he is phenomenal,” Dhumal added.
Dhumal went on to say that no one should interfere with their decisions since the former president of the HPCA believes that issues won’t be raised until they perform.
“So I think till the day they say they are fit to play, no one should intervene between them, and no questions will be asked if they are performing on the ground,” Dhumal concluded.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will next be seen in action in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 and also the New Zealand ODI series next year.
