England Cricket Team have got a huge relief ahead of The Ashes 2025-26 as their key pacer Mark Wood has been cleared of hamstring injury. The right-arm pacer suffered issues in his left hamstring during the warm-up match against England Lions, however, the scans did not reveal any major injury.
Which means, Wood will be available for the first test against Australia Cricket Team, which will commence on November 21 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. During the warm-up clash on Friday, November 14, Wood experienced stiffness in his left hamstring and left the field midway. He was sent for scans and was later cleared of any concerns regarding his hamstring.
However, Wood will not play in final day of the warm-up match against England Lions at Lilac Hill Park, Perth as a precautionary measure. He will continue with the preparation for The Ashes 2025-26. However, it remains to be seen if England will play him in the Perth test.

In an official statement, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Wood has been cleared of any injury regarding his hamstring issues.
“Following precautionary scans on Friday, England fast bowler Mark Wood has been cleared of any concerns regarding his left hamstring,” ECB revealed in a statement.

He returned to training in June and was expected to play against India in the final leg of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. However, his comeback was delayed with a focus on The Ashes 2025-26.
Meanwhile, Bryson Carse, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Matt Potts, and Josh Tongue are other pacers in England’s squad for The Ashes, alongside captain Ben Stokes.
