Asia Cup 2023, IND vs NEP - Weather Forecast, 4th September, Pallekele

India will play Nepal in their second group stage match of Asia Cup 2023 at Pallekele, Kandy.

Wet weather conditions have prevailed in Sri Lanka for quite some time in recent weeks. Delayed Monsoon caused severe rains and showers around the country. Centrally located Kandy has also been hit by multiple showers and persistent rain since the Asia Cup 2023 began. First, a flash shower interrupted the game on Thursday, then a complete washout happened in the 2nd innings of the India vs Pakistan clash. Both teams had to share the points each. With the weather getting wet, the authorities and fans have started to worry about the upcoming games in the big Asia Cup battle.

Team India will take on newcomers Nepal on Monday in their second league game. According to weather.com, Rain will spoil the party once again in the Asia Cup. Heavy thunderstorms are expected throughout the day on 4th September in Kandy. The rain possibility is above 68% to 75% as the precipitation index hovers around 70s on the radar. The possibility of an India vs Nepal game looks very grim with the kind of Weather predicted on Monday in Kandy.

Temperature is likely to remain around 22-25 C with humidity going above 85% throughout the day. There will be cloud covers throughout the day. Sri Lanka have 9 games to host in the ongoing Asia Cup across two venues. Kandy and Colombo both are going through wet weather spells. Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium will be hosting the tournament's Super 4 round along with the Final on 17th September. Next week’s weather in Colombo also doesn’t give a good indication of proper cricketing action in the tournament.

Nepal made their major tournament debut against Pakistan at Multan Cricket Stadium. Pakistan decimated Nepal by 238 runs in the opening game. India had to settle with just one point in their opening clash after being bowled out on 266 runs. Shaheen Afridi didn’t let the Indian top-order score big and picked up 4 wickets in the game. Other than India vs Nepal, the rest of the two Group B league games will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore where the weather seems clear and sunny and good for cricket.

In another news, Jasprit Bumrah has left the Indian camp in Sri Lanka and has flied back to India due to personal reasons. The premier fast bowler won't be available for selection against Nepal in the Group A fixture. The pacer is expected to join the team before Super Four stage.
