Bangladesh have once again failed to give a finishing touch to a game they almost had in their hands. Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs in the super 4 game of Asia Cup. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 257 runs on the board with the help of magnificent innings from Sadeera Samarawickrama (93) and Kusal Mendis (50). Sri Lanka had a great opening start, and they were looking set for a big total, but Bangladesh restricted them to just 257. Taskin Ahmed (3 wickets), Hasan Mahmud (3 wickets), and Shoriful Islam (2 wickets) bowled brilliant finishing spells. Chasing 258, Bangladesh had a poor start and lost four wickets inside 20 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim (29) and Towhid Hridoy (82) added 72 for the fifth wicket. Bangladesh were looking strong, but Maheesh Theekshana (3 wickets) and his spell clinched the game for Sri Lanka.
