Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka match in the Asia Cup 2025 took place in Abu Dhabi.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Team had a staggering start to their campaign in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. They thrashed the Bangladesh Cricket Team by six wickets to bag important two points. The match took place at Sheikh Zayed cricket stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Bangladesh had a horrible start to their innings as Sri Lanka bowled two wicket-maidens, removing both the openers in Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon for ducks. After that, Towhid Hridoy and Mahedi Hasan also perished for single digits as Bangladesh was left tottering at 38 for four. 

Skipper Litton Das (28) tried to get going but couldn’t score big as half of the Bangladesh side was back inside ten overs. With the team struggling at 53/5, Jaker Ali (41*) and Shamin Hossain (42*) joined hands and bailed the team out of trouble.

The duo added an unbeaten 86 for the sixth wicket and took their team to the fighting total of 149/5. For Bangladesh, Wanindu Hasranga bagged two wickets, while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera were amongst the wickets as well. 

Sri Lanka also had a poor start in the chase as Kusal Mendis was back for three in the second over. But Pathum Nissanka (50) and young gun in Kamil Mishra (46*) took the game away from Bangladesh with their 95-run stand for the second wicket.

Although Sri Lanka gifted a few wickets in the end, the youngster ensured that he remained there till the end and took his team home as Sri Lanka chased the target with six wickets in hand.

After the fifth match of Asia Cup 2025 between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka group B saw the Charith Asalanka-led team bagging two important points, moving to the second spot on the points table. Bangladesh slipped to third, followed by Hong Kong. Afghanistan are at the top of the list.

In group A, India are at the top followed by Pakistan in second with two points each. On the other hand, Oman and United Arab Emirates (UAE) are yet to register wins.
