India finished the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2025 at the top spot.
Indian Cricket Team ended the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2025 undefeated. They beat Sri Lanka Cricket Team in the Super Over at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai, which saw a thrilling encounter on Friday.
India didn’t have a great start with the bat as Shubman Gill bagged another low score in the tournament. However, Abhishek Sharma (61) continued his golden form with the bat as he slammed his third consecutive half-century of the tournament.
Although Suryakumar Yadav struggled to get going, Abhishek and he added 59 runs for the second wicket. After both these batters were back in the hut, Tilak Varma (49*) and Sanju Samson (39) took the command and made sure that India didn’t lose the momentum in the middle phase.
The duo added 66 runs for the fourth wicket that put Sri Lanka under pressure. Tilak batted till the end, while Axar Patel (21*) finished the innings on a high as India ended with the score of 202 for five.
Sri Lanka didn’t have a great start with the bat as Kusal Mendis bagged a golden duck in the first over. However, his wicket was a blessing in disguise for Sri Lanka as Pathum Nissanka (107) and Kusal Perera (58) took the attack to the Indian bowlers and made them look clueless.
The duo added 127 for the second wicket as they slammed bowlers all over the park, keeping the run rate in check. Even though wickets kept falling at the other end, Nissanka looked unfazed by it and slammed a brutal ton.
In the last over Sri Lanka needed 12 runs and Harshit Rana held his nerves and removed Nissanka on the first ball. He later displayed brilliant variations and defended the target as match went into Super over.
In the Super over, Arshdeep Singh delivered a brilliant over, giving away just two runs and picking two wickets. India chased the three runs target with ease and will head into the final high on a confidence.
