Team-wise IPL players included in India's T20 World Cup 2026 squad

No players from three IPL teams are included in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad.

BCCI announced the 15-man Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, set to begin on February 7. Suryakumar Yadav has been named as the captain, while Axar Patel will feature as his deputy.

Interestingly, the likes of Shubman Gill and Jitesh Sharma, who represented the Men in Blue during the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa, have been omitted from the shortlist.

The Indian Cricket Team has decided to make a few serious changes in the line-up, as Sanju Samson has taken Gill’s place in the opening pair, while Ishan Kishan has been called in at Jitesh’s place.

The announcement has come only a few days after the IPL 2026 mini-auction took place in Abu Dhabi. As a result, cricket fans have been left wondering which IPL franchise has the most players in the 15-man Indian squad. Thus, let’s take a look at the team-wise IPL players in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad.

Mumbai Indians

Much like every Indian squad, the franchise with the most players in the Indian team is the Mumbai Indians. Four players from MI have been selected for the T20 World Cup 2026. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the pack for the Men in Blue. The other three players are Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The IPL franchise with the second most players in the shortlisted Indian cricket team for the upcoming World Cup is KKR. Kolkata Knight Riders‘ Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakaravarthy will represent the Men in Blue at the coveted tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Explosive opening batter Abhishek Sharma and wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan from the Sunrisers Hyderabad will play for India at the 2026 World Cup.

Chennai Super Kings

From the Chennai Super Kings, two experienced players, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, will play for the co-hosts at the World Cup. Samson also played as an opener during India’s last T20I against the Proteas. Meanwhile, Dube scored 32 runs and took two wickets in the series in four innings.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals‘ skipper Axar Patel has been named as Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy for the upcoming tournament. Additionally, Patel’s spin partner in the Capitals’ squad, Kuldeep Yadav, will join the left-arm bowler for the Men in Blue at the World Cup as well.

Punjab Kings

Only Arshdeep Singh has made it into the Indian team from the Punjab Kings. Singh will team up with Harshit Rana and Jasprit Bumrah in the fast bowling department, as Mohammed Siraj, who also suffered an injury last month, has not been shortlisted by the selectors.

Gujarat Titans

The only Gujarat Titans player in the squad is all-rounder Washington Sundar, who is expected to add equal depth in both departments. Sundar has played four T20 internationals for India since November, one against South Africa and three against Australia.

No player from Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals, or Royal Challengers Bengaluru is part of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026.
