The first-ever Test series between these two teams was played in 2003. This is the first time since then that Bangladesh will play a Test match on Australian soil. But this Bangladeshi side is different from the one that toured Australia in 2003 under Khaled Mahmud’s leadership.
Bangladesh have shown improvement in recent Test assignments. The visitors are coming into this series on the back of the whitewash over Pakistan at home. But this will be their biggest challenge in this format.

The upcoming series is part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Australia are currently placed at the top of the table with seven wins in 8 matches. They have 87.50 PCT, and winning this series will boost their chances even more.

On the other hand, Bangladesh are placed fourth on the table with PCT 58.33. But beating Australia in Australia is one of the toughest jobs. They have not done it before in Test cricket.
The start to the tour didn’t go as planned for the visitors, and they were hammered by an innings and 368 runs in the warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI, where they were bowled out for just 54 runs in the second innings.
