Australia become first team to win all major ICC trophies across formats
With the win over India in the ICC WTC final, Australia have now become first team to achieve this record.
Australia have created history after thrashing team India in the World Test Championship Final at The Oval. Australia are now the only team to win an ICC title in all three formats of the game including the Champions Trophy twice. Australia with a complete team effort have defeated India by 209 runs. This is also their 9th ICC Trophy in total. They are the most dominant team in the ICC tournaments and have won two ICC trophies in the last three years. Australia decimated India at The Oval and gave them no chance of making a comeback after the first session of the first day. India bundled out 234 runs chasing 444 runs in the final.
Australia the new World Test Champions
Australia have five World Cup trophies. They won the ODI World Cup editions in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015. They also won a T20 World Cup in 2021 defeating New Zealand in the final. Australia won the Champions Trophy twice in 2006 and 2009. Now with a World Test Championship win they have become the first and only team to win an ICC Title in all three formats. Australia missed out on playing the Final in 2021 due to an over-rate penalty they faced during one of their games. Australia have 9 ICC titles in their account, while India and West Indies are the joint 2nd most successful teams in ICC events. They both have 5 ICC men’s major titles in their cabinet.
