Australia will defend their title in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 is the next big thing on the cricket calendar. It will be the 14th edition of the tournament. The ICC event is scheduled to be played between 2 October and 21 November 2027, taking place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, respectively.
It will be a 14-team tournament. India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are the 8 teams that have qualified for the event on the basis of rankings.
South Africa and Zimbabwe have booked the co-host spots. The third host, Namibia, will have to go through the qualifiers round. Australia won the previous edition under the captaincy of Pat Cummins. They beat India in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Although Australia have been a little inconsistent in this format and have lost a few ODI series. But when it comes to the ICC event, especially the Cricket World Cup, Australia are a different team altogether. They will be aiming for their seventh title going into the 2027 edition.

Australia are placed in Group A of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. They have India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A team to face. Australia will play one game each against all these five opponents.
During the group stage, Australia will play five matches. If they finish the group in the top three, they will make it through the Super 7 round. That is where the real challenge begins.
Every game will be important in the next round. To move forward in order to defend their title, Australia need to finish the Super 7 round in the top four; they will make it to the semifinals.

Australia will start their campaign with a game against India on October 7. They will next face the team that will finish the qualifier round at the top. This match will be played on October 12. Australia will face Zimbabwe and Afghanistan on October 15 and 18.
Their final group game is against Pakistan on October 22. Australia will play two games in Paarl and one game each in Cape Town, Harare and East London.
