Australia are trailing the BGT 2024-25 after loss in the first test in Perth.

The second test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 got underway on Friday, December 6th, at the Adelaide Oval. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in the day-night test match.

India lead the series 1-0 after their bumper victory by 295 runs in the first test in Perth. Led by the fearsome Jasprit Bumrah’s eight-wicket match haul, along with centuries from Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal, India thumped Australia at the Optus Stadium, consigning the hosts to their first test match defeat at the venue.

The action then moved to Adelaide for the pink ball test.

While taking the field on day 1 in Adelaide, the Australian players were seen wearing black armbands.

Why are Australian players wearing black armbands during the Adelaide test?

The Australian players are wearing black armbands in the Adelaide test to remember former cricketers Phillip Hughes (10-year death anniversary) and Ian Redpath (passed away on December 1).

Hughes passed away on November 27, 2014, after copping a blow on the backside of his neck during a Sheffield Shield game.

Meanwhile, talking about the IND vs AUS test, India made three changes: Rohit, Gill and Ashwin replaced Padikkal, Jurel and Sundar. Australia made one change: the injured Josh Hazlewood made way for Scott Boland.

Teams:

Australia (Playing XI): Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey(w), Pat Cummins(c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland

India (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Rohit Sharma(c), Nitish Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
