Australia are drawn in Group B of the T20 World Cup 2026 alongside Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Oman, and Ireland.

The Australian lineup for the ICC T20 World Cup is stacked with hard-hitting stars who can change the pace of the game at any juncture. This makes them one of the favourites to win the title.

The T20 World Cup 2026 begins on February 7 and will see 20 teams taking part in. Australia are placed in Group B of the alongside Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Oman, and Ireland. They are expected to go ahead in Super 8 from this stage, especially with kind of players they have.

Along with the hard-hitters, Australia also have a lethal arsenal of fast bowlers with significant experience, making the Aussies a strong title contender.

Thus, without any further ado, let’s take a look at Australia’s strongest playing 11 for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh will kick off the innings for Australia. The 34-year-old is expected to play the anchor role for the Aussies, while his partner in the opening duo will look forward to smashing big runs. Marsh is unarguably one of the most experienced players in the line-up, having played 81 T20Is in his professional career.

2. Travis Head

Travis Head has solidified his place as an aggressive but stable opening batter. Head has a strike rate of over 156 in T20Is and has scored five 50+ scores in 47 games. He was also part of the 2025-26 Ashes, where he scored three centuries for Australia, helping them win the series 4-1 at home.

3. Josh Inglis

Josh Inglis will keep the gloves for the Australia while also coming to bat in the third position. The right-handed batter has been a significant figure in Australia’s success in recent years. With a similar intent, Inglis will arrive at the crease for the Marsh-led side.

4. Cameron Green

Cameron Green’s all-round prowess is expected to play a crucial role for the Aussies at the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. In recent times, Green has also solidified his place as one of the best all-rounders in the international cricket circuit.

In 21 T20Is for the Aussies, the 27-year-old has scored six half-centuries with a strike rate of 160 while also taking 12 wickets. Green is a complete player who can play as per the team’s requirements; thus, he can be a strong anchor as well as a powerful finisher.

5. Glenn Maxwell

On his day, Glenn Maxwell becomes unstoppable, and fans have witnessed ample examples of the same. Maxwell has scored five centuries in T20Is, the most by any Australian player in the format.

Meanwhile, he is also the all-time third-highest run-getter (2835) for his nation, behind only David Warner (3277) and Aaron Finch (3120). He will have a golden opportunity to leapfrog the two Aussie icons and top the all-time list at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

6. Marcus Stoinis

Marcus Stoinis can open the innings and can also come to the rescue with his powerful shots in the last overs as a finisher to push the scoreboard. On the other side, he can also perform as a prolific medium-fast bowler in powerplay as well as death overs. Stoinis’s place in Australia’s XI is not in debate.

7. Tim David

Tim David has been a T20 specialist for the Australian side. Maintaining a strike rate of 168 with an average of over 36 while playing 68 games and primarily in the lower order, David will be forced to reckon with in the tournament. Another hard-hitter, David’s all-round power will be a boon for the Aussies and a threat to the opposition.

8. Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins, has improved his all-round skills drastically. In case of a batting collapse, Cummins’ batting skills will come in handy for the former champions, while he will continue to pick up wickets on the other end.

9. Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa is an important piece of the Australian jigsaw in the spin department. Australia’s leading white-ball spinner, Zampa, has been a threat for all the teams in the middle overs and, at times, in the death overs too.

The 33-year-old has taken 134 wickets in 108 T20Is for the Aussies, with an economy of 7.38 and a strike rate of 17.5, and his best figure has been 5/19. He will be joined by Tim David and Glenn Maxwell in the spin attack.

10. Nathan Ellis

Nathan Ellis’s accurate yorkers will play a major role in making the Aussies a strong candidate for the world title. However, the 31-year-old recently suffered a hamstring injury during the play-offs of the Big Bash League (BBL) earlier this week, and further scans have been carried out as his participation in the fast-approaching World Cup remains in doubt.

11. Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood will lead the pack of Australia’s fast bowling department. The right-hand pacer is famous for accurate line and length in long spells. Since making his debut for the Aussies almost a decade ago, he has been a prolific superstar in the line-up. With his best figure being 4/12, he has taken 79 wickets in 60 T20Is.
