Just like the 2019 edition, it will see ten teams compete against each other to become the World Champions. The start of the tournament will see a rematch of the 2019 World Cup final.
It will be the defending champion England facing the runners-up New Zealand on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Five-time champion Australia will be one of the favorites to win the tournament and will open their account with a game against the hosts, India on October 8 at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Australia won their last World Cup in 2015 at home under the leadership of Michael Clarke and will look to win their sixth title in the 50-over format.

Every team will play nine matches each, and the top four will make it to the semi-finals. Being the most successful team, Australia is expected to make it to the top four.
