IND vs AUS: Australia playing XI vs India, 1st ODI, 2023 – Predicted

Australia will face India in the 1st of three ODIs on Friday in Mohali.
The biggest cricket tournament is all set to start in a couple of weeks in India. Two of the top contenders for the World Cup will play a three-match ODI series against each other. It will be a clash between two-time champions India and five-time champions Australia, which will set the stage for the upcoming mega event.
India are coming off an Asia Cup win and will be high on confidence while Australia lost their last ODI series 2–3 against South Africa. But they are the favorites here as India have rested their key players, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Australia will see the return of regular captain Pat Cummins and star batsman Steve Smith. Here we will talk about the predicted playing XI for Australia for the first ODI against India.
IND vs AUS: Australia’s Predicted playing XI vs India
1. David Warner:

Veteran opener David Warner had mixed performances in the ODI series against South Africa, but India can never write off him. He will be a threat up the order because he loves to play long innings and has vast experience playing in India. Warner will be keen to do well to get the momentum going in his way before the World Cup.
2. Mitchell Marsh:

Star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is likely to open the innings in the absence of Travis Head, who sustained an injury in the South Africa ODIs. Marsh didn’t have a great ODI series against South Africa with the bat. But he performed well against India last time and can damage any bowling attack.
3. Steve Smith:

Steve Smith will be back in the Australian squad after missing the South Africa tour due to injury. He will be keen to get on the field and perform with not much time left in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He has also performed well against the Indians, irrespective of format, and will look to continue.
4. Matthew Short:
Matthew Short recently made his IPL debut for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023 and did a pretty good job. So he might replace Glenn Maxwell, who has been ruled out of the first ODI, in the playing XI for the first ODI. Short is an aggressive batter who can bowl some off-spin like Maxwell. He will be a like-to-like replacement for the Big Show.
5. Cameron Green:

Cameron Green set the stage on fire when Australia toured India ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup. His performance with the bat led to a million-dollar contract by the Mumbai Indians, and he has become an improved cricketer since then. He can take the game away from the Indians with both the bat and the ball and will be a possible threat.
6. Marcus Stoinis:

Australia have a luxury of having a number of world-class all-rounders that other teams don’t have. Marcus Stoinis is another one in that league who has been pretty good with both bat and ball and has played immense cricket in India during the IPL. He has also taken the new ball in the absence of regular bowlers and done a great job.
7. Alex Carey (Wk):

Alex Carey has had a pretty good series against South Africa, and he scored 99 in the fourth ODI. He is a good finisher for the team, and he can dismantle any bowling attack. It will be a great stage for him to prepare for the World Cup, and he will be keen to perform well against the hosts.
8. Sean Abbott:

Pace-bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott did well in the ODI series against South Africa. He chipped in with the regular wickets. He is also a decent batter at the lower end of the order. With Australia missing Mitchell Starc for the first ODI, Abbott is likely to replace him. Being a useful all-rounder, he will provide the team with a good balance.
9. Pat Cummins (C):

After missing the South Africa tour, Pat Cummins will be back as captain for Australia. He will be the biggest factor between India and Australia, and he will be desperate to get some game time. The Australian captain is a world-class bowler, and his ability to perform under pressure makes him a difficult prospect to play against.
10. Adam Zampa:

Adam Zampa will be the specialist spinner in the Australian side and the wicket-taker for his team. The leg-spinner will enjoy bowling in India, where the pitches help the spinners. He had a below-par performance against South Africa in the last series but has some good numbers in India. Australia will depend on him to take wickets in the middle overs.

11. Josh Hazlewood:

Josh Hazlewood is the third pacer of the dangerous Australian trio. He completes the Australian bowling attack with his accuracy and length. Hazlewood is in good form at the moment and has played almost all of the games against South Africa. He can bowl with new and old balls, which makes him a difficult bowler to face.
