ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will start on October 5 with a game between England and New Zealand.
The mega event of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is all set to begin in a couple of weeks time in India. Ten teams will be reaching India to participate for the biggest tournament in cricket. The tournament will start on October 5, when defending champions England will face New Zealand in the opening game at the Narendra Modi Stadium. India will play their first match on October 8 in Chennai against Australia.
All ten teams will play nine games each in the round-robin format, and the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. The tournament will see a total of 48 games, with the final scheduled to played on November 19 in Ahemedabad. However, prior to the tournament starting, all ten participants will play two warm-up games to adjust to the conditions.
Before the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, teams will be announcing their squads and revealing their kits for the mega event. A number of teams have already announced their squads, while some teams have also revealed their jerseys for the upcoming event. New Zealand:
The Black Caps recently revealed their official kit for the coming World Cup 2023. It is their traditional black kit. The black kit that has vertical lines on it New Zealand Cricket shared glimpses of the World Cup kit on social media, with Trent Boult, Tom Latham, and Lockie Ferguson wearing the new jersey.
Pakistan:
Pakistan were the first team to reveal their jersey for the upcoming event. They will be wearing mainly a dark green strip, which will have a yellow star at the top corner, shining brightly. The Pakistan Cricket Board stated while releasing the kit that this jersey will represent the concept of "Star Nation Jersey," which will express the connection between cricketing heroes and the dedicated fans.
India:
Indian Cricket Team on Wednesday, 20th September revealed their new kit for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at home. The new jersey has a vibrant tricolor on the shoulder in place of three white stripes. The BCCI logo is placed at the top of the left corner and has two stars above it, which indicates that India has won two ODI World Cups (in 1983 and 2011). India will open their campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
Australia:
The Australian team will enter the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as one of the top contenders. They will go into the tournament after playing three ODIs against India, starting on September 22. Australia were among the first teams to announce their squad for the coming mega event in India. And on Friday, they also revealed their official kit for the tournament. It has the traditional Australian golden color that represents the heritage of the country and the connection of the communities with cricket.
Netherlands:
Netherlands will also be competing in the tournament, and they have worked hard to come to India. They went past the likes of West Indies, Zimbabwe, and Ireland to qualify for the World Cup. On Friday 22nd September, the Dutch team also revealed their official kit for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They have kept the traditional orange color in it, with the team's logo on the right top. Netherlands unveiled the kit with cool bucket hats.
Bangladesh:
Bangladesh finally revealed their squad and official kit for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday, 26th September. The new jersey features a vibrant green color with a mix of red. The team's logo is on the top left side, with abstract patterns to add a modern twist to new attire. The fusion reflects the determination to do well at the highest level. Bangladesh will be reaching India a week before the beginning of the tournament.
Afghanistan:
On Wednesday 27th September, the Afghanistan Cricket Board unveiled their official kit for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Afghan team reached India on Tuesday and made the announcement of their new kit the next day. The new kit has kept the traditional mix of red and gray colors, which will showcase courage. The official kit has royal blue as its main color theme. The team's logo is in the left corner, with the main sponsor's name on the sleeves.
England:
The defending champions, England, are considered a strong contender for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They will open their campaign with the tournament's opener on October 5 against New Zealand. On Thursday, ECB revealed their official kit for the coming mega event. It has a mix of light and dark navy blue with red stripes on the side. The jersey consists the team's logo on the left top side with a star above it, indicating England's 2019 World Cup win.
South Africa:
South Africa are looking pretty good with a number of match-winners. They will start their campaign for the World Cup on October 7 against Sri Lanka in Delhi. Cricket South Africa (CSA) unveiled their new kit for the coming mega event, which is deep green in color with twisted patterns on the sleeves blacked in color. Amul will be the new sponsor of the kit, and the logo has been placed on the sleeves.
Sri Lanka:
Sri Lanka made it to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after winning the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. They will now compete in the mega event in India. They will be playing their opening game on October 7 in Delhi against South Africa. Earlier, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) revealed the official kit to be donned during the mega event. The new jersey has retained its traditional blue and yellow color, with the team's logo on the top corner. The kit also has a star above the logo, representing Sri Lanka's 1996 World Cup win.
