Travis Head scored 58 runs during SRH vs RR match before getting dismissed by Avesh Khan.

Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) pacer Avesh Khan rattled in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) overseas batter Travis Head in the match No. 50 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on May 2.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the hosts had a poor start as they lost opener Abhishek Sharma (12) and then No. 3 entrant Anmolpreet Singh (5) inside the first powerplay. However, left-handed batter Head continued to play counter-attacking cricket from the other end, and he was well supported by Nitish Reddy.

Head completed his half-century in the 14th over of the match. However, with the visitors needing a desperate wicket of Hyderabad opener Head, RR skipper Sanju Samson brought Avesh Khan into the attack to bowl the 15th over of the first innings.

On the very first ball, Head hammered a huge six. On the fourth delivery of the over, Avesh took his revenge as he uprooted Head’s stumps.

The Royals’ pacer bowled a full length delivery angled outside off, while Head moved across his stumps to play a lap shot over the wicket-keeper’s head. However, Head connected the ball, but he ended up playing onto his stumps. It was a lucky dismissal, as Head was aiming to take the game away from the visitors.

During his innings, Head smashed 58 runs, including four boundaries and three maximums. He also stitched a partnership of 96 runs with Reddy.
