Watch: Ayush Badoni's six goes in vain as he gets out hit-wicket vs RCB in IPL 2023

Ayush Badoni hit a maximum off Wayne Parnell but his bat hit the stumps in the follow-up.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Ayush Badoni was playing a blinder in the chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 10, 2023, in their IPL 2023 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but fell to his own folly.

KL Rahul, the LSG captain won the toss and decided to chase. However, Virat Kohli took full advantage of the powerplay and scored 61 in 44 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes to his name. He also added 96 runs with captain Faf du Plessis in 11.3 overs.

While Kohli fell to Amit Mishra, Glenn Maxwell joined in the fun and hammered 59 in 29 balls with 6 sixes and 3 fours himself. The RCB captain remained unbeaten on 79 in 46 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes, one of which was a 115-meter monster hit out of the stadium as RCB posted 212/2 in 20 overs.

In reply, the LSG batters found it difficult to as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Kyle Mayers for a duck and Wayne Parnell in his first outing for RCB dismissed Deepak Hooda for 9 and Krunal Pandya for a duck reducing LSG to 23/3.

KL Rahul struggled on his home turf making 18 runs in 20 balls. But then Marcus Stoinis made 65 in just 30 balls with 5 sixes and 6 fours, while Nicolas Pooran got them back in the game with a 19-ball 62 with 7 sixes and 4 fours.

Ayush Badoni Falls After Hitting His Wickets With His Bat  

As RCB felt they were going to win the game, enter Ayush Badoni and the youngster showed why LSG backed him so much. He scored 30 in 24 balls with just 4 fours and got LSG near the finishing line.

And on the last ball of the 19th over, it seemed like he had finished the match itself, as he hit a Wayne Parnell full delivery for a six by scooping it one-handed over the fine leg fielder. However, the jubilation of the LSG crowd and camp in the stadium turned into horror soon.

It was discovered that Badoni had hit the stumps with his bat in process of completing his follow-through with the bat.

In the end, the match proved to be a thriller as RCB made LSG work hard for the 7 runs they needed in the last six balls, as the visiting side won by just 1 wicket on the last ball.
