"Azam Khan't stop eating.." Pakistan fans body shame batter during USA vs PAK ICC T20 World Cup 2024 clash

Azam Khan got out on a golden duck against USA.

Azam Khan came in for some pretty brutal trolling for his fitness issues on the field. He has been hampered by his burly frame and weight of over 125 kilograms. Even the Pakistani fans in the USA, watching the Men in Green playing the USA in New York, couldn’t stop themselves from body-shaming the keeper-batter.

Azam was not in top form during the recently finished UK tour, and the emphasis was on him to prove the naysayers wrong in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, cricket fans have reached a new low by body-shaming the Pakistan wicket-keeper batter on social media after he struggled behind the wickets against England and lost a few catches.

Although, he has been included in the T20I team for his six-hitting prowess, Azam’s T20I record is pretty bleak. He has only 88 runs in 13 T20Is for Men in Green with a strike rate of 135.38 and an average of 9.77.

His T20 numbers are good with 3242 runs in 165 T20 matches with 1 century and 16 fifties. His strike rate is also 148.03 and he has hit 279 fours and 201 sixes.

Pakistan team fans troll Azam Khan for his weight

In the ongoing clash between the hosts USA and Pakistan, USA captain Monank Patel won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mohammad Rizwan (9), Usman Khan (3), Fakhar Zaman (11) and Azam Khan (0) struggled against USA spinners and pacers.

Babar Azam anchored one end and, with Shadab Khan (40 in 25 balls), helped Pakistan get back into the game. They accumulated 72 runs for the fourth wicket before Shadab fell. Babar Azam persisted, but he was then dismissed by Jasdeep Singh after 43 balls and 44 runs, including three fours and two sixes.

Pakistan eventually finished on 159/7 in 20 overs.

However, Azam Khan was targeted by fans on the ground as there was a sign that went viral on social media. It read: “Azam Khan stop eating..“

It remains to be seen how many more games Azam Khan will get in the Pakistan T20I side despite his run of poor form, which included a golden duck in the USA match.
