B Sai Sudharsan becomes 253rd player to represent India in ODIs

B Sai Sudharsan played 25 List A games before making India ODI debut.
India and South Africa are clashing in the first of the three-match ODI series in Johannesburg on December 17, 2023. India and South Africa had previously tied the three-match T20I series 1-1.
Now the action shifted to the ODI format with KL Rahul as captain of Men In Blue for this format. South Africa captain Aiden Markram won the toss and chose to bat first and revealed that pacer Nandre Burger was making his ODI debut as well.
On the other hand, Indian captain KL Rahul also revealed that Tamil Nadu batter B Sai Sudharsan is making his India debut in this ODI.
“Special day, watched a lot of cricket on TV – the Pink ODI is a big occasion here in South Africa. Looking forward to a cracker of a game. There was a of spin and it was try, we’ll try to put pressure on them. Sai Sudharsan is on debut today. There are a few names that have played a lot of IPL cricket. Ruturaj did well, Tilak seems exciting, Sanju is always exciting. We’ve got Axar, Kuldeep who’d love to see some spin. They know what pressure is and how to handle it. They all come with IPL experience, hopefully that helps them here and they can perform to the best of their ability,” KL Rahul said during the toss.
B Sai Sudharsan a proven performer in Indian domestic cricket
B Sai Sudharsan has been a proven performer for his state side Tamil Nadu in all three formats and has done well for India A side as well. He had recently scored a century for India in the Emerging Nations Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
In 25 List A games, Sudharsan has scored 1269 games with 6 centuries and 4 fifties at an average of 60.42. His highest score is 154 and he has hit 136 fours and 16 sixes thus far. Recently in IPL 2023 final, Sudharsan scored 94 for Gujarat Titans.
