Babar Azam becomes second batsman after Virat Kohli to score 4000+ runs in t20i cricket

Babar Azam has scored 4023 runs in 119 T20Is so far.
Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, made history when he scored his 13th run in the fourth T20I against England at The Oval on Thursday, May 30. Babar became the first Pakistani cricketer to reach 4,000 runs in T20I cricket history, and the second after India’s Virat Kohli.
The in-form hitter came within 14 runs of breaking Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs in the shortest format. Babar has 4,023 runs in 112 T20I innings and will compete with Kohli for the top spot at the future T20 World Cup 2024.
Babar Azam demonstrated his batting prowess with a stunning 36-run innings off 22 deliveries. Babar demonstrated his class and aggressive intent with five exquisite fours and a soaring six, resulting in a stunningly high strike rate of 163.64.
Babar’s effort was crucial to Pakistan’s excellent start, as he and fellow opener Mohammad Rizwan laid a solid platform with a 59-run partnership for the first wicket.

During this match, Babar also surpassed Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma’s tally of 3,974 runs, further cementing his place in the upper echelons of T20I cricket. Despite this achievement, he still trails behind India’s Virat Kohli, who remains the top scorer in T20Is with 4,037 runs at an average of 51.75.

Babar played his 119th T20I and 112th innings, and his current tally stands at 4,023 runs, with an average of 41.05 and a strike rate of 130.15. This achievement places him among the top T20 cricket players.
Babar has three centuries and 36 fifties, demonstrating his versatility to play both defensive and offensive positions as the circumstance requires.
Furthermore, Babar is the first and only batter to score over 400 fours in T20Is, with 432 boundaries to his name, demonstrating his technical skill and precision.
