Virat Kohli has smashed 488 runs in 10 T20Is against Pakistan till now.
With less than a month to go until the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has hinted about his plans to tackle Indian veteran batter Virat Kohli when the arch-rivals take on each other on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
The upcoming ICC tournament will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA. The T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in the month of June. On April 30, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the 15-member squad for the mega event. Whereas, the Pakistan Cricket Board hasn’t announced their line-up yet.
At the T20 World Cups, Kohli has always fired against Pakistan. Everyone still has a fresh memory of Kohli’s match-winning knock in the 2022 edition at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Australia, where he played one of the greatest T20I knocks of all-time against a tough Pakistan bowling attack.
Kohli has played 10 matches against Pakistan and has smashed 488 runs at an astonishing average of 81.33 in 10 T20Is till now.
We will plan against him: Babar Azam opens up on Virat Kohli challenge
The Men in Green will play an away three-match T20I series against Ireland. The T20I series will be played from May 10 to May 14.
Ahead of their departure to Ireland, Pakistan skipper Babar opened up about the conditions in the USA. He said that they are not aware about the pitches in New York and how they will play. Azam further added that his side will plan against all 11 Indian players and also for Kohli, as he is one of the best players.
“As a team, you always plan against different teams and according to their strengths. We don’t plan anything against only one player. We plan for all 11 players. We don’t know much about the conditions in New York and we will plan accordingly. He [Virat Kohli] is one of the best players and we will plan against him as well,” Babar Azam said in a press conference on May 6 ahead of their departure to Ireland.
