Top 5 Bangladesh batsmen with most centuries in test cricket

Opener Tamim Iqbal has the third-most centuries for Bangladesh in test cricket.

The Bangladesh cricket team made their test debut in 2000 and have played 144 tests till now. They have won only 21 test matches so far while losing 105 games. 18 test matches involving Bangladesh have ended in draws.

Bangladesh have produced a few high-quality and talented batters who have done well at the test level. So far 27 different batsmen have recorded test centuries for Bangladesh.

In this article, we will look at their top five century scorers in test cricket.

Top 5 Bangladesh batsmen with the most centuries in test cricket:

5. Mahmudullah, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan – 5

Three Bangladeshi batters – Mahmudullah, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan – have hit five centuries each in test cricket. Shakib, who is hailed as his country’s greatest cricketer, is also the third-leading Bangladeshi test run-scorer.

Mahmudullah played 50 tests and recorded five hundreds, while Shanto, the current test skipper, has played 29 tests so far, and Shakib has featured in 69 tests.

4. Mohammad Ashraful – 6

Former captain Mohammad Ashraful registered six test centuries in his 61-test career from 2001 to 2013. He scored 2737 runs at an average of 24. He also managed to score eight test fifties.

3. Tamim Iqbal – 10

Former captain and opener Tamim Iqbal played 70 test matches in a career spanning 15 years from 2008 to 2023. He scored 5134 runs, the second-most for his country, at an average of 38 and registered 10 test tons along with 31 fifties.

2. Mushfiqur Rahim – 11

Veteran keeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim is Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer at the moment with 5892 runs in 90 tests, scoring at an average of 39. He has cracked 11 test centuries so far, the second most for his country, to go with 27 fifties.

He converted three of those centuries into double hundreds.

Left-handed batsman Mominul Haque has become a rock in the middle order in the test side. In 63 tests over the past decade, Haque has scored 4143 runs at an average of 38 and has registered 12 centuries and 19 fifties. His 12 tons are the most by any Bangladeshi batsman in test cricket.
