Najmul Hossain Shanto dropped as Bangladesh announce squad for T20I series against Sri Lanka

Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in three-match T20I series.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday, July 4, announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. Former skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has been dropped from the team. Bangladesh Cricket Team and Sri Lanka Cricket Team will be locking horns with each other in a three-match series.
Moreover, Soumya Sarkar, Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam, Nahid Rana and Khaled Ahmed were some other players who could not find a place in the squad. On the other hand, Mohammad Saifuddin returned to the T20Is after a gap of one year. Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Nasum Ahmed also returned to the side.
Bangladesh are currently on an all-format tour of Sri Lanka, which will conclude with the three-match T20I series. The first T20I will be played on July 10 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele. The next two games will take place on July 13 and July 16, respectively.

Litton Das, who was named as T20I skipper earlier in May, will lead Bangladesh in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh squad for T20I series against Sri Lanka: Litton Kumar Das (Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali Anik, Shamim Hossain Patwari, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mohammad Saifuddin.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh lost the two-match test series against Sri Lanka 1-0. The first test ended in a draw, however, the visitors lost the second test by an innings and 78 runs. After the defeat in the test series, Shanto stepped down as test captain.
Earlier this year, he stepped down from T20I captaincy to focus on his batting. The ODI series between both teams is underway. On July 2, Bangladesh lost the opening ODI against Sri Lanka by 77 runs. Two more ODI games will be played ahead of the start of the T20I series.
