Nigar Sultana Joty to lead as Bangladesh announce squad for ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025

Nigar Sultana Joty will lead Bangladesh in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the Women’s team squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. The side will be led by Nigar Sultana Joty in the tournament, while Nahida Akter has been named as the vice-captain.
The tournament will begin on September 30 and will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Eight teams will lock horns for the title. They are Bangladesh Women, India Women, Sri Lanka Women, Pakistan Women, Australia Women, New Zealand Women, England Women, and South Africa Women.
Hosts India Women and Sri Lanka Women will collide in the tournament opener on September 30, while Bangladesh Women will play their first match against Pakistan Women on October 2 in Colombo. The final will be played on November 2.

Nigar Sultana Joty (Captain), Nahida Akter (Vice-Captain), Farzana Haque, Rubya Haider Jhelik, Sharmin Akter Supta, Sobhana Mostary, Ritu Moni, Shorna Akter, Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan, Marufa Akter, Fariha Islam Trisna, Shanjida Akther Maghla, Nishita Akter Nishi, Sumaiya Akter.
Meanwhile, Australia Women are the defending champions of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as they won the previous edition in 2022 by defeating England Women in the final.
Bangladesh Women gave a dismal performance in the previous edition. They won only one game and lost six matches out of seven encounters. With two points, they finished in the seventh spot in the points table out of eight teams.

ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will follow a round-robin format. Hence, each team will play one game against the other teams, playing a total of seven games in the league stage. In the end, the top four teams in the points table will qualify for the semi-finals.
