Barabati Stadium in Cuttack to be redeveloped by Odisha State Government and BCCI
Barabati Stadium last hosted an international match in 2022, a T20I between India and South Africa.
The Odisha State Government is set to redevelop and revamp the iconic Barabati Cricket Stadium in Cuttack. This project will be a joint venture by the statement government, the BCCI, and the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and the estimated cost is expected to be INR 600-700 Crs.
The decision was taken last year in December during the Annual General Meeting of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA). According to the agreement made during the meeting, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Odisha government will contribute Rs 600 to Rs 700 crore to the stadium’s repair and development.
The association will make a final decision on whether to demolish the stadium totally or partially. According to reports, work on redesigning the Stadium’s three galleries has already begun.
The meeting also voted to inform the BCCI about the stadium’s exclusion from hosting international matches. The association, on the other hand, hopes that the Barabati stadium will host matches in the future on a rotational basis.

India have won one of the two test matches played here and has an 11–4 win–loss record in ODIs. It has also been part of the Indian Premier League with teams like Kings XI Punjab, Deccan Chargers, and Kolkata Knight Riders playing their matches here or having their training camps in Cuttack.
V Kartikeya Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, paid a visit to Barabati Stadium and spoke with Pranab Prakash Das, President of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA).
He went over the ideas for transforming the Barabati cricket stadium, which can seat 60,000 people. This project will be implemented as part of the Odisha State Government’s 5T Transformation Initiative. The Barabati Stadium region will be transformed into a world-class sports complex with top-notch amenities for cricketers and other sports enthusiasts.
Spectators will have access to the stadium at international standards, from roads to parking to galleries, as well as comfortable viewing of matches and services such as food courts, restrooms, and so on. The site will also have facilities for other sports. The Odisha Cricket Academy in Cuttack will be further upgraded to provide the best coaching facilities for cricketers across all age groups.
