Bhanu Pania starred for Baroda with an unbeaten century.

The Krunal Pandya-led Baroda cricket team scripted history in their match against Sikkim in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024.

The two teams met on Friday morning at the Emerald High School Ground, Indore, where Baroda created the new world record for the highest innings total in T20 cricket.

Baroda achieved the record for the highest team total in T20 cricket when they smashed 349/5 against Sikkim in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy encounter on December 5, 2024. Baroda broke Zimbabwe’s record of 344/4 that they made against Gambia in October 2024.

This is only the third time a team crossed the 300-run mark in professional T20 cricket.

Krunal Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers Shashwat Rawat and Abhimanyu Singh put up an opening stand of 92 runs in only 5.1 overs with the latter smashing 53 runs off 17 balls.

More carnage ensued after the openers fell as No. 3 Bhanu Pania rained sixes in his staggering innings of 134* off 51 balls. Pania walloped 15 sixes and five fours in his astonishing knock.

Runs galore from the other end as well. Shivalik Sharma clobbered 55 runs off 17 balls and Vishnu Solanki cracked 50 off 16. All of their efforts helped Baroda post a gigantic total.
